2008 Schedule of Events

 

Wednesday, February 6

10:00am: Opening Ceremonies - Join the Mayor, the Town Crier and other special guests in the official start of the 4th Annual Feb Fest!

10:15am – 3:45pm: Public Skating - Courtesy of Tim Hortons

4:00pm – 4:40pm: Sledge Hockey Demonstration - Sledge Hockey is an exciting sport for people with special needs. The same rules are followed as in ice hockey but players sit on a sledge and propel themselves using two specially constructed hockey sticks that have picks on the end.

5:00pm – 6:45pm: Public Skating - Courtesy of Time Hortons

7:00pm – 8:00pm: Ringette Demonstration - The Kingston Ringette Association give us a taste of this fast-paced and exciting ice sport!

Thursday, February 7

7:30am – 5:00pm: Public Skating - Courtesy of Tim Hortons

9:00am: Ice Sculpture Demonstration - An innovative designer from Ice Culture Inc. will show us how a piece of ice can be transformed in to a magistic work of art. (Continues through the day)

12:00pm: 24 Hour Snow Sculpture Competition - Watch as engineering teams from RMC and Queen’s compete to see who can build the best child-friendly snow sculpture!

7:00pm – 8:00pm: Imagination on Ice - Featuring eight time British National Champion Steven Cousins, and top local figure skaters.

8:00pm – 10:00pm: Public Skating - Courtesy of Tim Hortons

 

Friday, February 8

11:00-1:00:  Skate with the Frontenacs – Join Kingston’s OHL greats on the ice for a fun skate at Market Square!”

12:00am – 12:00pm: The Snow Sculpture Competition Continues!

7:30am – 10:00pm: Public Skating - Courtesy of Tim Horton’s

3:00pm: Snow Sculpture Judging - Find out who wins!

7:00pm – 9:30pm: Concert in the Square featuring State of Shock. - State of Shock is Canada’s hottest new band! Their second single Hearts that Bleed is currently in the top 20 on the Canadian Rock Radio Charts following in the footsteps of breakout hit, Money Honey. Presented by KROCK 105.7

 

NHL TROPHY DISPLAY

Friday afternoon to Saturday afternoon

Some of the NHL’s most beloved trophies will be on display at Memorial Hall, City Hall from Friday afternoon until Saturday afternoon.

They include the Art Ross Trophy for top point earner, The Hart Memorial for MVP in the regular season, The Conn Smythe for MVP of the playoffs and the Maurice Richard Trophy for the leading goal scorer of the season.

 

 

Saturday, February 9

8:30am: Limestone Classic Opening Ceremonies - Singing of O Canada and a ceremonial puck drop will officially begin the tournament!

8:40am: Exhibition game – NHL Celebrities vs Military - A fun game will be had when NHL greats take on military veterans.

9:00am – 5:00pm: The Limestone Classic - A four-on-four shinny hockey tournament featuring celebrity players.

5:00pm – 10:00pm: Public Skating - Courtesy of Tim Hortons

 

Sunday February 10

7:30am – 1:00pm: Public Skating - Courtesy of Tim Hortons

1:00pm – 2:30pm: Annual Historic Hockey Series - Watch as RMC defends their title in the 40th Annual Historic Hockey Series, a celebration of the first game played in Kingston in 1886.
